Autumn is a balancing act: sunshine one moment, drizzle the next, and a cool breeze once the sun goes down. The trick to dressing for it isn’t piling on bulk; it’s choosing breathable layers you can dial up or down while keeping your silhouette sharp — and layering is one of Psylo’s hallmarks. The fibres below are the ones that work best this season, plus a few in-stock Psylo pieces to make your layering effortless.
The three fibres that work hardest
Organic cotton as your base layer

At Psylo, we mainly use organic cotton for men’s tees and women’s tops. Both fabrics are soft and breathable, sitting close to the skin and layering well under anything. Our organic-cotton tee jersey is slightly stiffer and sturdier than our bamboo jersey, while many women’s tops include a touch of elastane for extra fit and flexibility.
If you like a clean, minimal tee with subtle workwear cues, try the henley-style Green River Tee — it’s 100% Organic Cotton Jersey 40s for comfort that still holds its shape.
Prefer something more deconstructed? The two-panel, re-stitched Splitz Tee delivers that lived-in edge while keeping the fibre story pure: 100% Organic Cotton Jersey 40s.
For a women's top why not look for the Slashed Asymmetrical Tunic? It's handmade with our soft 95% certified organic cotton.
Bamboo for temperature-smart mid layers
Bamboo is your temperature-smart layer. It’s naturally breathable, with a silky feel and fluid drape, ideal for days when the weather can’t make up its mind. At Psylo, you’ll find both 100% bamboo tops for men and women, and bamboo–organic cotton blends in selected men’s tees.

For a long-sleeve layer you can wear on its own now and under outer layers later, try the Zentangle Long Sleeves Tee: it’s 100% bamboo, quilted at the front and sleeves for texture without weight.

Linen for airy outer shells
Once your base and mid layers are set, t's time to add structure with linen - our go-to fiber for outer shells that breathe. At Psylo, linen is often blended with cotton, and we work with two different qualities: a thicker, sturdier weave used for men’s trousers and kimonos, and a lighter one designed for more feminine styles. Both are enzyme-washed for a softer drape and bring a dry, airy feel that lets heat escape quickly — ideal as your top, wind-skimming layer before winter truly sets in.

The unisex Onomik Kimono is made from a 55% linen / 45% cotton outer fabric, giving it structure without heaviness. For the lower half, styles like the Ikat Shorts share the same breathable composition and easy movement — exactly the kind of pieces you’ll want layered over tees and light knits in October.
How to stack your layers without bulk
Formula 1: skin-kind base + responsive mid + airy shell
Start with organic cotton next to skin (think Slashed Asymmetrical Tunic). Add a bamboo mid like the Zentangle Long Sleeves Tee for warmth that breathes on the move. Finish with a cotton outer- Ethnic Short Kimono - breathe without trapping humidity.

Formula 2: graphic top + textural long-sleeve
When the forecast says “sun + showers”, keep it simple: organic cotton short-sleeve under a bamboo long-sleeve. Roll cuffs, let hems offset, and you’ve got warmth, wick, and movement—ready to peel a layer if the sun breaks through. (Materials: organic-cotton jersey for Green River/Splitz; bamboo jersey for Zentangle).

Fit, care & longevity that actually pays off
Keep the base slim so mid-layers glide. Choose semi-structured outers (linen/cotton blends shine here) so the whole stack reads sharp, not bulky. And care is easy: cold wash, gentle dry, and inside-out for prints and quilting. You’ll find the exact fibre-by-fibre care—Bamboo Jersey, Organic Cotton Jersey, Linen-Cotton Canvas—on our Fabric Index & Care Guide.
