The colors you wear play a huge role in creating your look. That’s why our design studio have been choosing carefully the Psylo colors. To match to your Psylo look, we create our alternative streetwear in natural, minimalist colors. To the classic Black and White, we add unique colors, such as Olive, Teal, Steel, Charcoal or Plum. As some of these colors’ names aren’t so common - we’re excited to share with you more about what these colors mean, and how you could use them to style your perfect outfit;
Not much introduction is needed for this darkest of colors. Black is the absorption of all colors and the absence of all light. Making it perfect for hiding things, and it can even be used to absorb negative energy. The black also became the symbol and color of choice for Goths, metal-heads, rockers and punks. So it’s no surprise that it's one of Psylo’s favorite colors. Emotionally, black revokes a wide-spectrum of feeling; from power and control, to classic and sophisticated, to dark and scary, to sexy and seductive. Making it one of the most versatile colors for you to wear, suitable for pretty much any occasion.
This color is a representation of the dark gray color of burned wood. Sitting between the extremes of black and white, this color symbolizes compromise, balance, intellect, knowledge and wisdom. Charcoal has a calming effect, and is considered mysterious and strong. It is a cool, neutral and practical color; nearly every color pairs beautifully with charcoal - making it perfect for almost every Psylo outfit combination.
Symbol of purity, light and spirituality - white clothing carry various, rich meanings across cultures. Like black, it’s an “extreme” color, perfect when you want to stand out from the crowd. Off whites are neutral and go well with most other colors, so it’s an easy match to your wardrobe. With half of our shops located in tropical areas - off white is a must-have in Psylo’s palette. This light, bright color compliments sun-kissed skin, and is your best choice in hot climates. Or when you want to brighten your style in the colder season.
This light shade color sits in the elusive margin between off-white, beige and warm grey. Not a neutral gray-scale color, but rather a warm gray with a very slight tinge of orange-red. Steel offers some of the warmth of the color brown, some of the color white’s lightness and the balance of grey. Making it an earthy and more flattering alternative to light grey. Steel’s balanced, neutral and calming effects making it an easy match to Psylo’s palette.
Olive’s dark hue means it is sometimes mistaken for a pale brown. However while olive sits between green and yellow on the color wheel, it’s generally thought to be a shade of green. Green, in general, is highly connected to nature; growth, fertility, health, and generosity. More specifically, olive is also associated with peace. These are all main values to Psylo - which is why you’ll find this color central to our palette.
Historically, olive has long been worn by armed forces around the world, because its muted tone helps soldiers blend into their background. Combat uniform and military-style clothing in olive color, later became also a juxtaposed symbol for punks, free-thinking and post-apocalyptic styles. All are sources of inspiration for Psylo, and our use of this color echoing these same values and styles. Moreover, olive is flattering to most skin colors, making it a popular choice for your outfits.
Teal is a deep blue-green color, named for the colored area around the eye of the Common Teal Bird. This color combines the calming properties of blue, with the renewal qualities of green. It’s a revitalizing and rejuvenating color that also represents open communication and clarity of thought. For Tibetan monks, teal is symbolic of the infinity of the sea and sky, while it is the color of truth and faith for Egyptians. With such rich cultural associations, it’s a perfect Ethno-Punk color addition, to fit to your Psylo style.
Plum is a purple color with a brownish-gray tinge. This uplifting color combines the calm stability of blue, and the fierce energy of red. Because purple is a rarely occurring color in nature, it’s often seen as having sacred meaning, and usually associated with luxury, power, creativity, wisdom, mystery, transformation and magic. This color likes to be unique, individual and independent. Not one of the crowds - just like you.
Plum is considered a more feminine color, and you can find this color on selected Psylo women’s styles.
Our design team ensures that creating your Psylo look flows smoothly by choosing colors that complement each other. With Psylo’s color palette being earthy, minimalist and neutral, our clothing are easily combined.
With that being said, here are some of our favorite color combinations;
Even if you're not a black-lover that wouldn't be caught wearing any other color - an all-black outfit is always a winner. More specifically, an all-black is best if you're going for a more classic, rocker or sexy look.
Apart from being invited to a White Party, an all-white look would work best for your next beach holiday on your sun-kissed skin. Perfect for when you're going for the pure, clean look - almost ceremonial.
The combination of off-whites with olive colors brings a sense of natural, earth look to the white's purity. Similar to an all-white outfit, but more relaxed.
This combination of steel with black is a subtle juxtaposition between these almost opposite colors. Together they create a strong edgy statement, classic at the same time.
The trio steel-olive-black is one of Psylo's signature color combination. These 3 colors compliant each other, and work in harmony to extenuate the details of your outfit.
This strong combination of teal and black colors works magic in turning heads. An edgy combo, not for the faint-hearted.
Our colors, just like your style - have been organically evolving over the past 20 years. Psylo’s current palette is an evolution, part of our journey together. There are also 3 important points we must share with you about our colors; The first is that Psylo’s colors look different, depending on the fabric. Especially the texture of the fabric plays a vital role in determining the shade of the clothing. The second is that colors and shades may vary from one monitor to the next. As much as our graphic designer works his hardest on presenting Psylo’s colors accurately on this website, they might look slightly different on your screen. Especially if you’re out and about! The third is that we try our hardest to sources the exact matching fabrics and dyes, production after production, year after year. At times, availability of materials might change, and our designs will evolve with it, responding to current needs.
